Christmas Time in NYC

I am doing a Travel Tuesday post to recap my trip to New York City this past weekend.  Bryan has been working in NYC during the week, so we wanted to do all the Christmas things.  His mom and her boyfriend came down from Upstate NY, so we also got to spend time with them.  I flew up Friday afternoon, since the price for my flight turned out to be over $150 cheaper than Amtrak tickets.  At certain times of the year, especially during the Holidays, it is worthwhile to compare prices between flights and train tickets.  This weekend was particularly crazy.  So. many. people.

I am still on a high from my London trip, and I am prepping for a few trips in the next few weeks. Fall Trip to Dallas, Texas

Fall is officially here and the leaves are starting to change color.  I have been cleaning out my closets in an effort to purge my wardrobe and it feels like I am trying to sort out my life before the end of the year.  Eek!  In light of the stress that has just descended upon me, I have a huge case of the travel bug.  Maybe it’s because I want to squeeze in some more travel before winter hits or maybe it’s because B is away for at least 5 weeks on a work trip.  Fingers crossed that we get to meet up somewhere fun!

A week of nothing but beach, pina coladas and good reads (that have nothing to do with work) make it tough to get back on my daily grind.  However, being able to go on a getaway always makes me remember how lucky those of us who are able to take time away from work are.  By no means did I have it tough growing up, but I know my mom worked hard and sacrificed to make it that way for me. While some families had their yearly vacations on islands and at beach houses, my mom saved up for the special trips she wanted me to remember.  This is one reason why Disney World is my favorite place on earth!

B and I went to Punta Cana with my cousin, her husband, their two kids, and my niece and nephew, who are around my age.  I booked the trip 3 weeks before the departure date and did not plan anything else. We knew where we were going and the name of the resort.  Work was so crazy for both of us that we worked all the way up until we left.  Literally.  We were both on our laptops until we had to board the plane.  Luckily, we did not have to stay connected to work while we were in the DR.  Except for the occasional email of course.
