My Favorite New Flats + A Personal Note

Zara Ballet Flats
Zara Lace-Up Leather Ballet Flats (no longer available) – similar here

First off, I need to introduce you to my new favorite shoes.  These Miu Miu-esque ballet flats from Zara (check out the $550 version here) are so comfortable and a fraction of the price!  These Zara versions are on sale for under $16!  I love that they look like actual ballet shoes, but of course, my ballet teacher would have threw me out of class if I walked in with black ribbons instead of pink!  Walking around in these beauties brings back so many memories and if I must confess, I just want to dance around my office in them.  They are THAT amazing.

The ballerina trend has been popular these last few seasons, so I linked a few other great ballet flat options above!

On to a more serious note.  Today is the Inauguration of arguably the most controversial President of our time.  While each person is entitled to have his or her opinion, no one can deny the unrest that has come about because of this presidential election.  This is not a political blog and I am by means a political junkie, so don’t worry, I’m not trying to publish an op-ed anytime soon.

However, no matter what side of the issues you are on, you should feel comfortable to voice your thoughts and concerns.  More importantly, you should turn your words and feelings, weather they stem from support, fear, outrage, or empathy, into action.  One of the greatest things about living in this Country is that we have the ability and freedom to express our opinions and to make choices in our everyday lives.  I, along with some of my like-minded female friends, have chosen to volunteer for organizations and causes that we stand for, because in the words of the now former President Obama, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.  We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.  We are the change that we seek.”
